The 2018 3MT Finalists Announced!

Who’s ready for this year’s 3MT Final? Come check out the top 8 contestants as they present their way to first place with a $1000 purse, and a chance to make it to the Western Canadian Final at the University of Regina on April 27.

The finalists

The eight finalists will present in the following order:

  1. Pranav Shrestha, MASc in Mechanical Engineering, Injecting into skin through microneedles, Dr. Boris Stoeber
  2. Anna Smith, MSc in Forestry, The smell of fear: The influence of heavy metals on juvenile coho olfaction and behavior, Dr. Scott Hinch
  3. Rajat Jain, MASc in Civil Engineering, Providing high quality potable water to Indigenous communities in Canada, Prof. Pierre Bérubé
  4. Haley Williams, MSc in Geography, When the Glaciers are Gone: Lessons Learned from Taan Fjord, Dr. Michele Koppes
  5. Andrea Johnson, PhD in Social Work, Cancer as Interruption: Adolescents’ posttreatment experiences, Dr. Grant Charles
  6. Khalid Saad El Din, MSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Increasing Rates of Young-Onset Colorectal Cancer, Dr. Mary De Vera
  7. Andrew Robertson, PhD In Physics, Enabling Targeted Alpha Therapy for Treatment of Advanced Cancers, Drs. Paul Schaffer and Vesna Sossi
  8. Christopher Mann, MSc in Astronomy & Astrophysics,  Searching for a Middle Sized Black Hole, Dr. Harvey Richer

The Final, hosted by Dr. Jennifer Gardy, will be held at Jack Poole Hall in the Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre, 6163 University Boulevard on the Point Grey campus. The event starts at 12:30 p.m. sharp.
